Beauty Pageant Should Remain but the Format Must Change

The weirdest session about a beauty pageant competition is when the girls put on swimsuit and model-walk towards a mic, ready to answer questions.

Under what circumstances in real life will a woman be expected to answer smart questions in a swimsuit? I can only conclude that the inventor of this competition has anticipated global warming. In the future, you might find journalist interviewing people in a bikini because it gets too hot to wear proper clothes on an everyday basis.

And this is what we call an objectification of women.

It’s Time to Upgrade Beauty Pageants

It is obvious to everyone that there’s an element of objectifying women in beauty contests and such absurdity is no longer acceptable in today’s standard. However, I argue that it is the execution of the show that makes it problematic, the spirit of a beauty pageant is not, and should continue to exist.
