From a Person with Anxiety Disorder

Remember the time when you felt invincible and really good about yourself? I didn’t.

I put on a brave face in any dreadful networking event, either fear to talk about my ideas or sometimes I go over-the-top and enter into an involuntary argument with someone. Then I can’t sleep and hate myself all over again.

I grew up in a highly critical family where every part of me is flawed and not good enough. So much so that I escaped the minute I turned 16 years old, all the way from Hong Kong to England.

Over the years my self-confidence started to develop, but it was easily crushed. My hope, trust and love of myself is a roller-coaster ride. Until I was diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), this helps me to understand myself, and strangely build the foundation of unmoveable self-confidence.

If I can do it, you can too! Here are my 3 tips to build self-confidence.

1. Identify how you flourish

Like a plant, human also relies on inputs to make us happy and grow healthily. Unlike a plant, which only needs sun, water and carbon dioxide for photosynthesis, human need a lot more and we don’t usually know what they are.
